This is what King David had to say about going to the Lord’s house: “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the Lord.'”(Psalm 122:1 NKJV)

We can say that David enjoyed church. He also said this in Psalms 84:10: “For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.” (Psalm 84:10 NKJV)

His passion in this verse speaks for itself.

Enjoy Sunday as you make yourself home to the presence of Jesus!

When God “Pokes” You

20120926-143138.jpg

God is poking me. He just is today.

In a student group, a student preached from Psalms 73 on developing eternal perspective while living on earth.

The message did impress me, but what really impacted me were verses 25, 26 & 28:

Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.

My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God, That I may declare all Your works. (Psalm 73:25, 26, 28 NKJV)

Great passage that nudges us to desire God’s closeness in a world full of trivial distractions.

Read it. Great. Then later it came in a conversation. Then as a post on Facebook. Then on Facebook again.

I think God is poking me- giving me some nudges to really digest these words into my being.

God does have a habit in poking people. Little Samuel couldn’t sleep because he kept hearing Someone calling his name.*

Whenever He is tapping for your attention, look up; because He has remarkable secrets for you.

Has God poked you yet?

*1 Samuel 3

Don’t Hold Back from Doing Good

20120924-165940.jpg

I know it’s a mint. It’s the story behind this mint that I want you to see.

The girl that I sit next to in chapel had a cough. I had this mint in my pocket. I had the thought to give her the mint, but I suppressed that idea of generosity.

A wise man once said:
Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so. (Proverbs 3:27 NKJV)

When we have a chance to help someone, however little it is, we should go do it.

I’m glad later in the day, God gave me a chance to encourage someone.

Its been said that you are probably the only Bible most people would ever read.

Don’t hold back. We all know that even a little mint can make a “fresh” difference in someone! (couldn’t help myself but make that pun).

Where You Are on Purpose For a Purpose

20120923-223504.jpg

You are where you are on purpose for a purpose.

Esther was queen of the largest empire in her age. Out of hundreds of women, she was chosen as the new wife for the King of Babylon.

Her rise to prestige was miraculous, but it was also providential. There arose a threat that impended doom over the existence of Jewish race.

Esther’s fatherly cousin believed it was not by chance Esther became queen. He felt her succession to the throne was the power to save their people.

For Esther to appeal before the king without permission could cause her death. Aware of this, Cousin Mordecai commented: For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”(Esther 4:14 NKJV)

Esther can remain silent on the threat on her people and inevitably watch them be annihilated. Or she could rise from apathy and become a force to make the difference.

You may not want to be where you are, but God has you where you for a purpose. You maybe the difference that will bring about significant change to your world.

Trust Jesus. You might be made to be the change where you are for such a time as now.

When I Think of You, I Pray

20120922-172649.jpg

I want to believe that when you unexpectedly think about someone, it can be a divine notion to pray for that person.

I wish I can recall the times when someone’s name just “pops” into my mind, and while I entertained the thought of them, that person was actually going through a particular trial.

It never hurts to be safe and lift that loved one to God in prayer. I mean after all we’re just humans that will inevitably undergo the wind of adversity.

Keep Your Friends Close, But God Closer

I use to think that I can get a whole closer to God, if I just got closer to godly people. The only problem in my theory was:

People change.

I’ve been with people that I was convinced that would turn this world for Jesus. I mean seriously I’ve sat with people who seemed to just walked out of the New Testament. You just assume that they would stay forever aflame for God.

But most on the list are either lukewarm or have completely abandoned faith in Jesus altogether.

This experience has taught me is that i can enjoy and be encouraged by godly friends, but I mature best when personally aim to get to as Jesus I can get.

Start and build godly relationships, but centered maturity by developing your relationship with Jesus. You can rest to know that He won’t change.

God is the light that shines in the darkness of our hearts

FOLLOW THE SON

Light cannot ever coincide darkness (duh). Whenever light enters a dark space, it repels the darkness around it. They can never be together; its either one or the other.

God is holy. He is always pure and righteous. In fact the Bible describes Him as light:

“This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.” – 1 John 1:5

Sin is not God’s vocabulary, and like light to darkness, He also can’t coincide with it. Sin separates us from God (Isaiah 59:2). Size doesn’t matter. Once you have sinned, you have broken fellowship with God.

As Romans 3:23 stated, “all have sinned”; at one time in our lives we have fallen short of God’s glory, and therefore we are repelled from relating to God.

“And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your…
